Who We Help
You carried it alone because that is what you were trained to do. Treatment here is built for people who have already learned to function through things most civilians never face.
Confidential · No obligation
What to expect
A confidential assessment takes about fifteen minutes and there’s no obligation. Our admissions team answers the phone around the clock.
Overview
Blueview Recovery treats substance use and the mental health conditions underneath it — PTSD, depression, chronic pain, insomnia and moral injury — in one plan, with one clinical team, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
You do not move in. You attend structured sessions during the day or evening and go home afterward, which means treatment fits around a job, a VA appointment schedule, or a family that depends on you.
Who this is for
Roughly one in ten veterans seen in VA care meets criteria for a substance use disorder, and the rate climbs sharply among those who served in combat roles. Standard treatment programs are not built around why that happens.
| Factor | What it looks like after service | Why a standard program misses it |
|---|---|---|
| Alcohol was normalized | Drinking was the sanctioned way to decompress after a deployment. The culture was institutional, not personal. | Treating the drinking as a character failing skips the fact that it was trained behavior with a function. |
| Pain began with a prescription | Service-connected injuries, surgeries and years of load-bearing work start a relationship with opioids nobody intended. | A drug-seeking frame collapses a real injury into a moral problem — and the pain still has to be managed afterward. |
| Disclosure was a career risk | Careers were shaped by who did and did not appear on a mental health roster. That instinct does not switch off at discharge. | Formats that expect open disclosure in week one stall out. Trust has to be earned before anything useful gets said. |
| The structure disappeared | Losing a mission, a unit and a chain of command at once is its own destabilizing event. Substances fill that space fast. | Removing the substance without rebuilding structure leaves the vacuum the substance was filling. |
| Trauma sits underneath | PTSD, moral injury, traumatic brain injury and chronic sleep loss are usually already present before the use escalates. | Substance-only treatment leaves the driver of the symptom intact, which is how the cycle restarts. |
Our clinical team plans treatment around those realities instead of asking you to translate your experience into language built for someone else.
Dual diagnosis
Post-traumatic stress and substance use reinforce each other. Alcohol interrupts the nightmares, so the nightmares get worse without it. A stimulant cuts through the fog of a depressive episode, so the crash deepens the episode. Treating either condition on its own leaves the cycle intact — our dual diagnosis approach addresses both in a single, coordinated plan.
| Factor | What it targets |
|---|---|
| Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) | The thought patterns that precede use, and the beliefs holding them in place. |
| Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) | Emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and the anger many veterans describe as the hardest symptom to live with. |
| Trauma-informed therapy | Processing at the pace you set, without forcing disclosure before you are ready. |
| Medication management | Withdrawal, sleep, mood and cravings where clinically appropriate, coordinated with any prescriber you already see. |
| Group therapy | Working alongside people who understand the frame of reference without needing it explained. |
| Holistic and experiential therapy | Sleep, hypervigilance and the physical residue of sustained stress. |

Programs
Care steps down as you stabilize. Most veterans move through two or three of these levels, not all of them.
If you need to withdraw safely first, we coordinate placement before treatment begins. Length depends on the substance — typically three to fourteen days.
The highest level of outpatient care — five hours a day, five days a week. Full-day structure with individual and group therapy, and you sleep at home.
About five hours a day, three to five days a week, typically for eight to twelve weeks. Enough structure to hold recovery together while you return to work.
Weekly sessions for long-term support as you apply what you have learned, with a clinical team that already knows your history.
Coverage
Cost and coverage are the two things that stop veterans from calling, so we handle that part before you commit to anything.
| Factor | Who it fits | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| VA community care | Enrolled veterans referred out when the VA cannot provide timely or local care. | We confirm the referral and coordinate directly with your VA care team. |
| TRICARE | Retirees, medically retired veterans, and family members on a TRICARE plan. | We verify the plan type and confirm whether an authorization is required before admission. |
| Commercial insurance | Veterans covered through their own employer or a spouse’s plan. | We run the benefits check and give you the out-of-pocket figure in writing. |
We verify your VA and TRICARE benefits before you commit to anything, and tell you plainly what they cover. If a benefit we do not accept would serve you better, we will say so and help you find the right placement.
Getting started
The first conversation is a confidential clinical assessment, not a sales call. Call, or send a message and we will call you.
We will ask what you are using, what you have already tried, what is going on with sleep, mood and pain, and what treatment needs to work around. From there we recommend a level of care and a start date. Same-day assessments are often available.
Nothing you tell us is shared with a current employer, a command, or anyone else without your written authorization.
Call (215) 986-2077. We are at 901 E 8th Ave #203, King of Prussia, PA 19406, serving veterans across Montgomery County, Philadelphia, Delaware County and the Main Line.
