Overview

Outpatient Treatment That Fits Around Your Shifts

Blueview Recovery treats substance use and the mental health conditions that often come with it — depression, anxiety, sleep problems and the effects of trauma — in one plan, with one clinical team, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

We work with police officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, 911 dispatchers and corrections officers from across the Philadelphia area. You don’t move in. You attend structured sessions and go home afterward, and we’ll work with you on a schedule that fits the realities of shift work.

Who this is for

Why First Responders Wait Too Long to Ask for Help

The job asks you to stay steady through things most people never see. Over time, the calls add up. Many first responders use alcohol or pills to come down after a shift, get to sleep, or stop replaying a bad call. Asking for help can feel like it puts your reputation, your partner’s trust or your career on the line.

Cumulative stress

Not one bad call, but years of them. We help you deal with what’s built up, not just the drinking that’s been managing it.

Sleep and shift work

Rotating shifts wreck sleep, and alcohol or pills often fill the gap. Restoring healthy sleep is part of the plan.

Critical incidents

Calls that stick with you are addressed with trauma-informed care, at the pace you set.

The culture of toughness

Needing help isn’t a weakness. Treatment here is direct, practical and judgment-free.

Home life

Missed holidays, short tempers and pulling away from family. Family involvement is part of treatment when you’re ready.

Not sure where you fit?

A fifteen-minute confidential assessment can help you figure out next steps. No obligation.

Dual diagnosis

Addiction and Mental Health, Treated Together

Substance use and mental health conditions feed each other. Alcohol helps you shut off after a shift, so it gets harder to shut off without it. Pills help you sleep, so sleep falls apart when you stop. Treating the substance without what’s underneath leaves the cycle in place. Our dual diagnosis approach addresses both in one coordinated plan.

Levels of Care

Care steps down as you stabilize. Most people move through two or three of these levels, not all of them.

  1. Detox

If you need to withdraw safely first, we coordinate placement before treatment begins.

  2. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

The highest level of outpatient care: five hours a day, five days a week, and you sleep at home.

  3. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Several hours a few days a week, often possible alongside a modified duty or return-to-work plan.

  4. Outpatient Program (OP)

Ongoing therapy and support as you get back to full duty and build independence in recovery.

Getting started

Starting Treatment

The first conversation is a confidential clinical assessment, not a sales call. Call, or send a message and we’ll call you.

We’ll ask what you’re using, what you’ve already tried, how you’re sleeping, and what treatment needs to work around — your shift schedule, your family, your job. From there we recommend a level of care and a start date. Same-day assessments are often available.

Nothing you tell us is shared with your department, union or anyone else without your written consent, except where the law requires.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Our admissions team answers calls 24 hours a day.

Not from us without your written consent. Substance use treatment records are protected by federal confidentiality law, with stricter protections than most medical records.

Your treatment plan is built around you, including the realities of your job. Ask our admissions team about current group options when you call.

It depends on your level of care and your job’s requirements. Many people in IOP and outpatient continue working. We’ll talk through your situation during the assessment.

No. Trauma-informed care means you decide what to share and when. Many people work on sleep, stress and substance use first.

Either way, you’ll get the same integrated care. Our rehab for veterans page covers military-specific concerns and benefits.
